Vibration Assessment & Survey

Comprehensive Vibration Assessment & Survey

Vibration assessment is used to understand how dynamic forces may affect people, buildings, and sensitive uses, and whether mitigation is required to protect comfort, performance, or structural integrity. This work commonly supports planning applications, condition discharge, design decisions, and regulatory compliance where vibration is a material risk.

We undertake vibration surveys and assessments arising from transport infrastructure, industrial activity, construction works, and building services or structural sources. Measurements are used to characterise vibration magnitude, frequency, and duration, allowing potential effects on occupants, neighbouring buildings, and proposed development to be assessed proportionately and clearly.

Our evidence-led approach supports foundation and structural design, informs vibration and noise control strategies, and helps manage both human response and building damage risk. Assessments are undertaken for new developments, refurbishment projects, and operational sites, with clear recommendations provided for designers, engineers, and project teams.

What We Do

Our vibration assessment and survey work includes:

  • BS 6472 vibration assessments to evaluate the effects of vibration on people in residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments affected by nearby rail, road, or industrial sources.

  • BS 5228 vibration assessments to assess the potential impact of demolition and construction activities on adjacent properties and to inform appropriate working limits.

  • BS 7385 building vibration damage assessments to determine whether vibration levels may result in cosmetic or structural damage to existing buildings.

  • ProPG gym vibration assessments to evaluate structure-borne noise and vibration from new or existing gyms, supporting acceptable conditions for neighbouring residential or office uses.
