Project Overview
This large and complex mixed-use development is bounded by a railway corridor, a major road network, and the HS2 construction works, creating a challenging acoustic environment from the outset.
Kimber Acoustics was appointed to provide full lifecycle acoustic consultancy, supporting the project from baseline environmental surveys through planning, detailed design, condition discharge, and commissioning. Our role was to identify and manage acoustic risk at each stage of development, ensuring that planning requirements were satisfied and that completed buildings would perform robustly in use.
Scope of Acoustic Services
Our involvement included façade acoustic design to control external noise ingress, integration of acoustic considerations within overheating and ventilation strategies, mitigation of flanking transmission within the building fabric, and acoustic input to support BREEAM compliance. Ongoing design coordination and verification testing were undertaken to ensure that acoustic commitments were delivered as intended.
Outcome
The development was successfully completed in 2024, with Kimber Acoustics providing continuous support across all project stages. Acoustic performance targets were achieved, planning and regulatory requirements were satisfied, and the completed scheme delivers compliant, comfortable environments despite its highly constrained urban setting.
