Project Type
Commercial Plant Noise Assessment
Estimated Value
£10 million
Scale
Worship hall and offices totalling approximately 325 m², with 24 residential apartments totalling approximately 1,600 m²
Project Overview
The Battersea Bridge Road development included commercial accommodation and residential apartments, with mechanical plant already installed at the time of our appointment. Noise impact from the installed plant presented a potential planning and compliance risk, requiring assessment despite restricted site access.
Kimber Acoustics was appointed to review plant noise impact post-installation and to identify proportionate mitigation measures that could be implemented without intrusive investigation.
Scope of Acoustic Services
With no site access available, our assessment was based on manufacturer sound power data, plant schedules, and site drawings. Acoustic modelling was undertaken to predict noise emissions and assess potential impact on nearby noise-sensitive receptors.
We developed a mitigation strategy focused on practical, deliverable measures, including the use of acoustic screening and identification of lower-noise plant alternatives where appropriate.
Outcome
The proposed mitigation strategy reduced commercial and planning risk associated with the installed plant and provided a clear route to compliance. Our input supported planning considerations and enabled the project team to address noise issues efficiently despite the constraints on access and programme.
